Here's a 1965 Admiral solid state 4-speed automatic record player. If you think this is a stereo unit; then, you are wrong. It's actually a cheap mono unit housed in a full sized stereo cabinet with the L and R speakers wired together. When I got this, the high output crystal (3 volt) cartridge was nearly dead. I ordered a replacement from the VM website and it now has plenty of output; but, skips a great deal. A lot of these older mono high output crystal cartridges are not very compliant and will skip heavily on stereo records, especially those from the late '70's onward. However, this one is trying to skip on some older mono 45's; so, the suspension may be hard on this NOS cartridge. I may end up having to install a modern 1V cartridge and either live with lower volume or build a preamp circuit. The amplifier uses two transistors and is about as basic as it gets. I replaced the 50uf/30uf@150V filter cap, the .047 across the line cap, and cleaned the controls. In a future video, I'll service the record changer.
