This isn’t where I thought I’d end up at the age of thirty — but it’s where I’m finally giving myself a chance to live. I’m Tess — artist, writer, and host of Psychosis in Pigment. After years of fighting treatment-resistant depression, bipolar episodes, and chronic illnesses, I’ve officially decided to start ECT (Electroconvulsive Therapy) — also notoriously known as “shock therapy.” This video is the start of a raw, honest series documenting what ECT is really like: the fear of the unknown, the faint hope, the anesthesia, cognitive difficulties / memory fog, and the moments of light that somehow still break through. I’m not a doctor or current medical professional, though I did work psych for a number of years, and I did go to nursing school — right now, I’m only trying to survive for my friends, family, and loving husband — and maybe help you feel less alone while I do it. ⚡ New episodes every week as I share the process, the recovery, and the art that helps me stay level-headed. 🎨 Watch, subscribe, and follow my story in pigment. 💬 Have questions about ECT, mental health, or how creativity fits into recovery? Drop them in the comments. — Tess @PsychosisInPigment #ECT #ElectroconvulsiveTherapy #MentalHealth #DepressionRecovery #BipolarDisorder #PsychosisInPigment #MentalIllnessAwareness #ArtAndRecovery #ChronicIllness #TraumaSurvivor #MentalHealthVlog #CreativeHealing
