The beginning of a New Year is a good time to reflect on the changing seasons of life as we grow older. Join Swami Tadatmananda for a guided meditation and contemplative walk on the beautiful trails behind his ashram. (Immersive experience – best on a large screen using headphones.) Contemplation is a quiet, thoughtful process of reflection, requiring a mind that's very attentive and completely focused. To prepare your mind for contemplation, it's best to perform a meditation practice first, using a technique like mantra japa, reciting a mantra. You can practice mantra japa while you walk, and it's even more effective if you synchronize the mantra to your steps. Mantra: om namo narayanaya, salutations unto Narayana, Lord Vishnu. Winter represents the period after death and before rebirth in which you remain in a formless, unmanifest condition. Spring represents rebirth and summer represents the maturity of adulthood. Fall represents the final state of one's life in which you have the most wisdom and broadest perspective. The last part of your life can be the best time of all if you can learn how to gracefully accept the problems associated with aging, physical decline, and death. That acceptance can be found with the help of the spiritual wisdom of the rishis, the sages of ancient India, whose teachings are known as Advaita Vedanta. 0:00 Introduction 1:35 Walk/Meditation 5:07 Contemplation
