NEW OIL FOR A NEW SEASON Pastor Gene Benson Lapine Assembly – January 11, 2026 AM Text: Zechariah 4:6 “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,” says the Lord of hosts. God is a God of seasons, movement, and progress. He does not leave His people stagnant, and He does not advance them without providing what is needed for the next assignment. When God shifts a season, He releases fresh oil to match new responsibility. Many struggle not because God has stopped working, but because they are trying to meet today’s demands with yesterday’s oil. 🛢️ WHAT OIL REPRESENTS In Scripture, oil represents the anointing—the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit for divine assignment. Position without oil is empty. Saul had a title, but David had anointing. Oil marked divine approval and enabled divine function. Psalm 23 shows oil as something that flows, increases, and responds to relationship, not something static or stagnant. When God prepares a new season, He pours fresh oil. ⏳ NEW SEASONS REQUIRE NEW OIL Every season carries different demands, battles, and responsibilities. The oil for survival is not the same as the oil for expansion. The oil for preparation is not the oil for manifestation. David was anointed privately, then publicly, then nationally. Each anointing matched a new level of responsibility. God anoints according to assignment, and when assignment increases, anointing must increase. 🧠 WHY OLD METHODS CANNOT CARRY NEW DIMENSIONS Jesus taught that new wine cannot be placed into old wineskins. New wine represents fresh moves of God, while old wineskins represent outdated mindsets and methods. Even good methods can become limiting when God moves forward. Moses saw miracles with the rod in Egypt but missed God’s instruction in the wilderness by relying on old methods. Yesterday’s instructions cannot govern today’s assignment. ⚠️ THE DANGER OF COMFORTABLE OIL One of the greatest dangers is becoming comfortable with a past anointing. What once flowed easily can become routine. Samson assumed the oil would always respond but neglected consecration and alignment. Anointing flows where alignment is maintained. God desires continual renewal, not dependence on former glory. 🙏 HOW GOD RELEASES FRESH OIL Fresh oil flows from intimacy with God. It is cultivated, not accidental. Prayer renews oil. Obedience preserves oil. Humility attracts oil. Waiting on the Lord brings renewal through exchange, where weariness is replaced with strength. God pours where there is room, and empty vessels attract divine filling. 🔥 THE HOLY SPIRIT AND NEW SEASONS The Holy Spirit distributes fresh oil for new assignments. Power is released for purpose. The disciples were already saved, called, and trained, yet they needed fresh oil for a global assignment. God does not send His people into new battles with old strength. 📍 SIGNS YOU NEED FRESH OIL When spiritual things feel heavy instead of joyful. When old strategies stop producing fruit. When God stirs hunger for deeper intimacy. When familiar patterns reveal their limitations. These are not signs of failure, but invitations to renewal. ✨ KEY TRUTH You cannot enter new dimensions with old thinking. You cannot handle new glory with yesterday’s obedience. God is inviting His people to let go of comfort, lifeless tradition, and spiritual complacency, and to receive fresh oil for a new season. #NewOil #NewSeason #LapineAssembly
