Okpebholo Reinstates Edo Security Corps

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo on Thursday lifted the suspension imposed on the Edo State Security Corps in September 2024. A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Fred Ituah said the move was targeted at fortifying the security architecture and a comprehensive shift in the state’s quest for enhanced safety and security. Ituah in the statement, noted that the suspension, which was initiated by the Inspector General of Police ahead of the September 21, 2024 governorship election followed constitutional stipulation making election security the sole responsibility of the Nigeria Police Force assisted by other sister agencies within the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES).
