My thanks to "ThatPeterboy" for his three part question about my preferences, style and influences. I am a singer who plays guitar. Therefore the song and the storyline and the way I tell them is crucial. I use mostly first position chords because I'm an old bluegrass rhythm guitarist adapted to sing mostly the story songs of American singer songwriters, and with a bias to some great Texan songwriters. I have developed a style which enables me to find the vocal melody from with the chord progression. Whist I don't sing songs about beer, F150 trucks an ol'Yeller my bluetick hound, I find great inspiration (and material) from the Jimmie Rodgers, Hank Williams, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, and the less "country" singer-songwriters such as Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, John Prine, John Gorka, David Olney, Jeffrey Foucault and even some chap called Dylan. Often, of late I've been introduced to new to me songs and writers by my one-to-one Zoom clients wanting to learn songs by singer songwriters that I've not previously heard of. So, again, my thanks to "thatpeterboy" - and I hope that this answers your questions and I'd be delighted in your further comments.
