This week, tephra fell on Hilo due to Hawaii's tallest lava fountains during the last 57 years. These tall lava fountains originated from the Kilauea volcano, and caused the National Park to be temporarily evacuated. Meanwhile, in Russia, the Sheveluch volcano produced a large vulcanian eruption, sending a plume of ash to an altitude of 30,000 feet. And, in Japan, the alert level of the Yakedake volcano was raised due to the detection of new ground deformation and an increased rate of earthquakes. Today's video will discuss these stories through the opinion and analysis of a geologist and list the 41 world volcanoes that are actively erupting.
