Another track from "Best Of .... Back Then" -- I've stuck this up predominately as a wee tribute to the great Martin Jenner, guitarist extraordinaire, who is sadly no longer with us. This was a quickie written & recorded for a "B" side to the Private Stock single "Highland Girl" released 1978. The idea was to get in and record this quickly -- I fancied a real Latino feel to the song -- but for some reason, as happens, the "quickies" turn into "marathons", and I think it took around 16 tries to nail it. We recorded at Eden Studios in Chiswick London -- usual suspects on the session -- Pete Zorn Bass, Jeff Alan drums & perc, Martin, and me on concert acoustic (nylon strings) -- Harmonies, Pete, Martin & me. There's nothing to this track, just 4 of us, but I love the atmosphere and feel, and if you do nothing else, listen to Martin's solo at 2:30 -- sublime playing. Martin was a big admirer of Amos Garret, the Canadian jazz/blues guitarist who famously played on on Maria Muldaur's recording "Midnight at the Oasis" -- I asked him to sort of base the solo on his technique -- he nailed it, and how. Great player - and a "leftie"!! and... he used to laugh at my jokes!!!!!!!!
