In this video, I take a ride on Route 487 between Central Middlesex Hospital and Park Royal on a Volvo BZL. The 487 is operated by Metroline out of their Willesden Junction (WJ) Bus Garage, with a PVR of 11 buses. The route runs between Willesden Junction and South Harrow, Bus Station and is allocated Volvo BZLs, but Gemini 2s do the route almost every day these days. The 487 is a very busy route for anyone who has taken it, so it would do well with a full double-decker allocation. I've photoed and spotted VWs on the route several times with me even spotting two pretty much back to back yesterday. I haven't actually taken one though, but I'm sure it would be fun riding a VW down the A40 as they don't crop up nearly as commonly on the 95 and I don't have the connections like that in order to film a dead run going down the A40 on a VW. Anyway, enough of me waffling, the 487 is a really direct route actually which is probably why it's so busy. It doesn't spend too long on the A40 before going down back roads through Sudbury Town, Sudbury Hill and the back end of Northolt en route to South Harrow. It is the only bus to get remotely close to Harrow from Harlesden, other than the N18 so it makes sense it's used. Similar to what I said about the 187, BZLs suit the route, perhaps even more so for this route and there's a bit more flexibility in fleet with the 487 than the 187, with the route sometimes using VMSLs from the 228/316s fleet. It is yet to use a VMSL from the 206s fleet though that will probably happen in the future as its the same length as the 228/316s own anyway, though I know not too many enthusiasts are fans of the updated tomato look of these so perhaps its a good thing one hasn't strayed yet. And besides, many of you will be more fascinated by the Gemini 2 strays so there's that. Enjoy the video. Again, no stops served as although the video seems quite more lengthy, not too many stops were covered due to traffic on the A40. 487 bus rating: 8/10 WJ* - Willesden Junction Bus Garage Thanks for watching!
