Anirudh Live in Malaysia on Jan 31, 2015 at Surf Beach Sunway Lagoon in Petaling Jaya. The three-and-a-half hour show will begin with opening acts from local talents, including Superfly Music, Starr Sound, K-Town Clan and PsychoUnit, before Anirudh takes centre stage along with his group of singers and live band. Other international vocalists in his entourage include Shakthisree Gopalan and Inno Genga. The 25-year-old music director is famous for composing the worldwide viral song Why This Kolaveri Di, which gathered over 88 million views on YouTube and hailed as the most downloaded song on mobile with 4.1 million downloads. Anirudh said that fans could expect something fresh and new for the concert dubbed “Anirudh Live”. “It is going to be an audio-visual treat and my fans can expect something different from the usual Tamil concerts, ” he tells reporters at the announcement of the show in Bandar Utama today. Admitting that Malaysia remains closest to him as a second home, Anirudh says that the concert here will mark another milestone in his fledgling career. “I always feel welcomed whenever I come here. “I have always loved the hospitality and the love shown to me by all since two-and-a-half years ago, and for that I feel very blessed and thankful, ”he says, adding that the first trip to Malaysia was with his grandparents. Anirudh, a child prodigy, began composing music from the age of 10, mastering the keyboard at the renowned Trinity College of Music in London. Following the success of the song Why This Kolaveri Di, Anirudh charted major grounds by successfully composing the soundtrack for six Tamil films, delivering massive hits. “I think that being a prodigy is overrated. “I feel lucky to have kick-started my music career much earlier than most would expect to as my aim is to become a successful music director by the time I reach 30,” he says. Anirudh says that the moniker of being a successful music director should only reach him if he maintain success in the next 10 years. He also adds that following his concert, he is expected to perform in other countries where Tamil music is popular, including other Asian and European stops. “At the moment, my focus is on Jan 31. After that, I will focus my attention on other countries such as Singapore, Canada and the United Kingdom,” he adds. Organised by Golden Goose Entertainment and Team Sound & Light (M) Sdn Bhd.
