Poco distante da via Ravecca si trovano importanti insediamenti medioevali come Campopisano e il Castello, sede del castrum, ovvero il primo insediamento abitativo della città, dove sorgono la chiesa e il convento di Santa Maria di Castello e la torre degli Embriaci, conservata in omaggio alle gesta di Guglielmo Embriaco Testadimaglio. La zona fu duramente colpita dai bombardamenti della seconda guerra mondiale. La ricostruzione si è fatta attendere per buona parte del quartiere oltre mezzo secolo. Campopisano è un piccolo gioiello immerso nel centro cittadino, incastonato tra le facoltà universitarie ed il porto con tutti i suoi rumori e frastuoni che, una volta addentrati tra crose e viottoli, spariscono come per incanto, portando il visitatore in un oasi di relax e pace. -------------------------------- Not far away from Ravecca are important medieval settlements as Campopisano and the Castle, the seat of castrum, the first inhabited settlement in the city, where there are the church and convent of Santa Maria di Castello and the tower of Embriaco, preserved in homage to deeds of William Embriaco Testadimaglio. The area was hard hit by the bombing of the Second World War. The reconstruction was made to wait for much of the neighborhood over half a century. Campopisano is a small jewel located in the city center, nestled between the university faculties and the port with all its noise and frastuoni that once penetrate between "Crose" and paths, disappear as if by magic, bringing the visitor in an oasis of relaxation and peace .
