Indian Railways to soon run trains at 130 km/hr on Delhi-Amritsar route. General Manager Northern Railway Ashutosh Gagal on Sunday inspected the stations of Ludhiana, Jalandhar, and Vyas on the Delhi-Amritsar route where the trains will start running at the upgraded speed of 130 kilometers per hour in the coming day. "We are going to start running trains at a speed of 130 km/hr from Delhi to the Amritsar railway track for which we have come to inspect the track. Earlier here, trains used to run at a speed of 110 kilometers per hour. We will keep increasing the speed as the works get completed. Our trains are running at the speed of 130 km/hr on the Ahmedabad to Mumbai track," said Gagal Trains on the Ambala-Chandigarh and Saharanpur-Ambala sections of the Ambala Railway Division are expected to start running at a speed of 130 kmph from the existing speed of 110 kmph by the end of this year. Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Ambala Division, Mandeep Singh Bhatia said, “Speed on six sections have been increased over the last couple of years, and by the end of this year, the division will increase capacity of track on the Ambala-Chandigarh and Saharanpur-Ambala sections. The trains on both sections will be running from the existing speed of 110 kmph to 130 kmph. This will help in improving the line capacity by 18 per cent and the division will be able to introduce new trains. The other routes on which the trains run at a speed of 100 and 110 kmph will also be upgraded in the coming years.” Sirhind is a city and Sikh pilgrimage site in Punjab, India. It is situated on the Delhi to Lahore Highway. It has a population of about 60,851 . It is now a district headquarters in the state of Punjab; the name of the district is Fatehgarh Sahib. The jurisdiction of Sirhind sarkar extended to Anandpur which was the seat of Guru Gobind Singh in the closing decades of the seventeenth century. At the instance of one of the hill rulers, Raja Ajmer Chand, Wazir Khan, the faujdar of Sirhind, despatched some troops along with a couple of artillery pieces to reinforce the hill army attacking Anandpur. An inconclusive encounter took place on 13–14 October 1700. Guru Gobind Singh after a brief interval returned to Anandpur but had to quit it again on 5–6 December 1705 under pressure of a prolonged siege by the hill chief supported by Sirhind troops. Under the orders of the faujdar, Nawab Wazir Khan, Guru Gobind Singh's two younger sons, aged nine and seven, were cruelly bricked to death. They were enclosed alive in a wall in Sirhind and executed as the masonry rose up to their necks.
