Hi everyone, this video is the long awaited testing on additional Crystalac coatings to use for coasters and trivets. Here is a summary of my findings during this testing: One thing to note while reviewing the results. I think because just about any coaster you buy will stick to a glass when it is wet, we should concentrate on the actual durability of the surface and it's resistance to glass rings, water damage, etc. After doing all of this testing, I think a few more tests may be in order, so stay tuned for those! Brite Tone - passed the hot coffee cup test, passed the hot dish from the oven test but when I placed a glass of ice water on it for about 20 minutes, the glass left an indent on the surface. Although the indent was not very noticeable, I don't want to sell coasters to people if this is the result of using them. Top Coat - failed the hot mug test, the coaster stuck to the mug and it left a slight indent. Passed the hot dish from the oven test. Passed the ice water glass test despite it sticking due to water. Crab Coat - partially failed the hot mug test due to sticking to the coaster, however the mug did not leave an ident though. I am not making a determination on the hot dish test because I think it stuck due to water being on the bottom. I may repeat that test at some point. Passed the ice water glass test. Test times: Hot mug test - mug of water in microwave for 3 min, left on the coasters for 6 to 8 min. Hot dish test - glass casserole dish with water in it, baked at 450 degrees for approximately 10 min. Ice water glass test - Glass of ice and water that was sweating, left on the coaster for over 20 min. Please let me know your thoughts on the testing in the comments!
