The late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice.” While at first glance, the moral universe of today may appear as though liberty and justice for all have emerged the victor of our nation’s colored past. However, the reality of institutionalized racism birthed by systemic inequalities and structural injustice pervades the Black experience. These persistent structural failings are more surreptitious as they are embedded in the foundation of the American consciousness and processes inherent in social and political structures. The 2021 edition of the JCPAR presents scholarship and perspectives that chart the course for the future of Black leadership and advocacy and addresses the most pressing issues facing Black Americans today. In this session, the JCPAR contributors will discuss the Journal as a whole, as well as topics addressed in their individual research. We will delve into modern Black movements, global health equity, structural racism as well as methods to uplift the Black African Diaspora.
