What is the outcome of second round of meetings between the teams of PTI and Sharif dynasty that rules Pakistan? Generals want their legitimacy to be accepted so that Asim Munir can continue till November 2027 guaranteeing safe exit for his generals. Sharif family wants their election rigging to be legitimised so that they are accepted as a Government and can have a political future. PTI leaders want Imran Khan to compromise on his high ideals, accept being shifted to Banigala residence in house prison while other things are negotiated. Khan, realising negative political outfall, wants his release from Adiala Jail, free of charges through a transparent court process; his demand is that military should stop interfering in court proceedings. Many PTI leaders are optimistic that something positive will be achieved before 31st January 2025. But Shahid Khakhan Abbassi, Ex-PM of Pakistan, appearing in Kashif Abbasi’s program, Off the Record, ARY News predicts that negotiations will fail and status quo will continue with Imran Khan languishing or preferring to stay in jail for next several months!
