Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme Cabinet has approved the Revamped Power sector Distribution scheme. This scheme is in addition to the existing UDAY scheme Existing schemes 2001 Accelerated Power Development and Reform 2008 Restructured APDR 2014 Integrated Power Development Scheme 2015 UDAY 2021 Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme Major Issues with DISCOMS Transmission Losses Lack of proper distribution Transformers Reactive Power Losses Lack of proper conductor for carrying the power Commercial Losses Power Theft Defective Metering Errors in meter Readings Corruption Outstanding Debt and Interest Burden Outstanding Debt- 4.3 Lakh Crore AT&C losses- 20% Interest rate burden –(14-15%) Aim Reduce AT&C losses by 12-15% by 2024-25 Reduce ACS-ARR Gap to Zero by 2024-25 Feeder Segregation Modernisation of Urban Distribution Infrastructure Nodal Agencies- Rural Electrification Corporation + Power finance Corporation LTd. Finances and Implementation Financial outlay – Rs. 3,03,758 crore Gross Budgetary Support- 97, 631 crore Subsuming the IPDS and DDUGJY will save- Rs. 17000 Crore which will be a part of RPDS Financial Support to the DISCOMS DISCOMS need to achieve 60% marks against the predetermined criteria like AT&C reduction, Modernisation, Corporate Governance, hours of Supply Eligible DISCOMS will be provided with Funding For Smart Metering- Rs. 900 or 15% of the cost of meter (normal States) Rs. 1350 or 22.5% of the cost of meter (Special Category states) Additional 50% of the said grants if they install targeted number of meters by 2023 Live Streaming | Watch Online Current Affairs Strategy for UPSC CSE by Amit Sir.
