Costin Chioreanu Music Video series (2 of 8) Crippled Black Phoenix is one of my favorite projects, but it’s another deeply experimental one that’s really difficult to whittle down to a series, so I’m happy to have an excuse to send in a solo. It’s a collaborative dark post-rock group founded by doom and sludge veteran multi-instrumentalist Justin Greaves, and since 2011 has featured the fantastic vocals and lyrics of Belinda Kordic. There have been a number of spin-offs and side projects of the many current and former members that form a weird dark musical extended universe that is really cool to follow. Anyway, this is from their 2016 studio album “Bronze”; “black dog” is an English term or metaphor for depression. Costin does a great job with the video visualizing that, and I love the guest violin and trumpet.
