Zamlha Tenpa Gyaltsen, Tibetan Environmental researcher of Tibet Policy Institute, Dharamsala, says that the Policy Institute recognizes the urgent looming crisis of thawing of the permafrost due to rising temperature. Quoting the Chinese Academy of Sciences latest research report, that of 46% area of permafrost in the Tibetan plateau, 20.7% areas are unstable and dangerous which includes the lower areas of Nagchu, Yushul, Golog and northern part of Karze and Sershul, says Gyaltsen.
