The city of Paris is celebrating the return of a historic baseball field! In its glory days, Laker Stadium was the place to be in central Illinois. Built in the early 1950s, the field was the home of a Chicago Cubs minor league team. But as the years went by, the game slowly disappeared. The field is currently the home of the Paris High School and American Legion teams. Renovation board members hope the new stadium will help to bring more baseball leagues and games to Paris. Phase two of the project is set to be finished in about a month.
