performance - 2025 March 29 Mundinho means 'catch a little world' in Cape Verdean Creole. This ensemble breathes new life into practically forgotten musical routes during the third concert of the Musica Mundo Series 2025. The music breathes the Iberian atmosphere and the Portuguese troubadour tradition and takes you on a journey through North Africa, the Middle East, India and Brazil. The historical stories and musical encounters along the way come to life in the enchanting compositions of singer-songwriter Joana Almeida. This concert promises to be an experience full of rhythm, passion and musical discoveries. In the music of Cacha Mundinho the Lusophone world comes together. Lusophone refers to the regions and cultures that share the Portuguese language, in this case Portugal and parts of the Middle East, Africa, Brazil and India. With elements from the music of these countries combined with the improvisation skills of first-class jazz, Cacha Mundinho creates a swinging melting pot.
