[MoHa Radio Recording] Tisséo VAL208 NG, Siemens/Matra IGBT-VVVF Low Pitch Sound

Train Type : Siemens Mobility/Matra VAL208 NG ( Nouvelle Génération / Next Generation ) City : Toulouse, Occitanie, France Recorded the May 5th 2021 with a Tascam DR-07 recorder and a homemade "MoHa Radio" device + amplifier. In this video you can listen to the traction motor sound of the VAL208 NG trains running in the Toulouse Subway. You can find detailed specification of this train on this Wikipedia page ( the English version is less complete so this one is the French version ) : https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/VAL_208 The VAL208 is the successor to the VAL206 type developed by Matra, which is now named Siemens Mobility. This train like it's predecessor feature autonomous driving without conductor on board and use synchronous AC motor embedded to the wheels instead of a classic DC motor. Because of that change it has a VVVF drive instead of a chopper VF drive and it a very particular sound. Not all train share the same starting pattern and some trains have slight variation, especially in the frequency tone. One other thing about this train VVVF drive is the cruise control, the train try to always keep to the section speed so it makes a very particular sound when cruising.
