Under the regular Critical Skills permit, the minimum salary is €40,904 with a relevant degree and €68,911 without one, which is unrealistic for most graduates in their first job. That’s why the Irish Graduate Route was introduced, with a lower salary threshold of €36,848, allowing graduates to enter the Critical Skills system earlier, gain experience, and progress naturally.
