In sports, a coach is invaluable because they help you perform at your best. The same can be true when it comes to driving – but instead of a live person, your “coach” is the latest technology, like Kia’s Highway Driving Assist. This technology helps reduce driver burden when driving on certain highways. Here is what I mean: Highway Driving Assist, or HDA, is available on select Kia models. When you’re driving and using Smart Cruise Control, with HDA active, HDA monitors the road’s posted speed limit and automatically resets the Smart Cruise Control set speed. It will help keep you driving at the correct speed, To activate the system, the vehicle has to be stopped, the transmission in park and the ignition on… Then go to the User Settings menu on the instrument cluster by pressing the Mode button on the steering wheel: Select Driver Assistance… Then Driving Assist… And Highway Driving Assist… Finally, press the “OK” button on the steering wheel. While driving, press the Cruise button to activate HDA. Some vehicle’s default setting HDA is enabled. HDA will be active when the vehicle is traveling slower than 95 miles per hour… When you are driving on certain highways or freeways… And when Smart Cruise Control is on and operating. A green HDA icon will be illuminated on the instrument cluster when it is active. The indicator light will turn to white if the conditions are not met. Just as a coach can improve your game, Highway Driving Assist can help your driving. Remember, the HDA system is not a substitute for safe and proper driving practices – it is the responsibility of the driver to always follow posted speed limits, be aware of the surroundings and drive safely.
