It started with traveling on Christmas Eve from Naha, Okinawa, Japan to Taiwan to Hanoi Vietnam. Traveling was easy. Kids were great on the planes and no delays or issues. We got meals on both planes and that was nice because it was Asian cuisine and Mom could eat most of it! Once we got to Hanoi we had to look for our tour guide, Long, pronounced, L-ou-ng. He was nice but was scripted and not warm and friendly. He’d be a great tour guide for an older couple looking to learn all the history nitty gritty of Hanoi. He knew A LOT of facts and I don’t doubt that he’s amazing in the right situation. He did not mesh with our family and the kids didn’t like having to be trucked around to historical sites the whole day. I’m glad it was the first day because had this been the end of our trip they would have been toast. It was Christmas but didn’t feel very much like Christmas. They don’t celebrate in Vietnam like they do in the states so there weren’t many christmasy things to do. And being gone all day we didn’t spend much time at the hotel.
