In 1941, German U-boat U-99 was captured south east of Iceland. Forty crew were rescued to become POW's. Midshipman Koenig was sent to a POW camp in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_...) This and many other stories are found in the book "POW: Behind Canadian Barbed Wire" by historian and author David J. Carter. "POW" tells the stories of the camps of both wars together with the escape attempts, murders, trials and executions. In addition, coverage is given the POW camps in Britain and the USA together with the murders and executions which took place in those countries.
