If you are coming to Bamyan , Afghanistan then you should also visit Band e Amir National Park where you will get a chance to visit collection of beautiful 6 lakes . In this new vlog of Afghanistan series you will see Indian visiting ancient site of Lord Buddha statues which were built in 6th & 7th century CE and were destroyed by Taliban in March 2001 claimed to be Anti Islamic . I planned to walk to the ancient site of Bamyan , Afghanistan first got a glimpse of ‘Shamama’ Lord Buddha statue known as ‘ Queen mother ‘ which is regarded as Female figure of the pair built at the height of approximately 38 meters ( 125 ft. ) and another Lord Buddha which is known as ‘ Salsal ’ meaning ‘ The Light shines through the Universe ‘ referred as Male figure of the pair was built approximately height of 55 meters ( 180 ft. ) . Both were destroyed by Taliban by the orders of Mullah Muhammad Omar ( supreme leader of Taliban ) in February 2001 & destruction was started in early March claimed that Lord Buddha statues were ‘ False Gods ’ which the Taliban deemed incompatible with their strict interpretation of Islamic law . There are many caves at the cliff where monks used to live and preach , now you can see local Hazara community living there , as potatoes are grown a lot in Bamyan , Afghanistan . Afghanistan’s 60 percent potatoes are sourced from Bamyan , Afghanistan . I also met Hazara family Barbequeing Potatoes in traditional style . As I have to leave for another city Ghazni of Afghanistan decided to check out from my Hotel which costed me 1000 Afghani / 1447₹ , the most expensive stay which I paid for a single night . I moved back to Kabul , Afghanistan with a shared taxi of 400 Afghani & from the Kabul terminal to Ghazni , Afghanistan with a shared taxi which costed me 300 Afghani . Thanks for watching .
