In this video, I discuss two of the more serious family dynamics and how they impact our lives. Specifically, we'll focus on two aspects of family dynamics: parentification and adultification. Parentification occurs when children are forced to take on the role of a parent or caregiver for their siblings or even their own parents, which can have lasting effects on their emotional and mental well-being. Adultification occurs when children are expected to act and think like adults before they are developmentally ready, which can also have negative consequences.
