we visit Mitchell and Charleville on our way to Eromanga - Roadtrip 2021 Episode 7

In this Episode we were going to visit Bilby's and Cooper the Dinosaur but I forgot just how much we seen before we got to Eromanga. So Cooper the Dinosaur will be in the next Episode. The episode starts where Peter and I have just left Tamara and her family at Oakey and we plan to drive to Roma about 400kms away that afternoon but we got tired we decided we need to stop for the night at a camp called Judd's Lagoon. We enjoyed a quiet evening overlooking the Lagoon in front of the fire. We set off early the next morning for Roma where we grab some supplies and meet up with Benn, Dannielle and the kids. We had planned to head North towards Winton but Dannielle was told about a great town called Mitchell and that further on there was the discovery a few years ago of Cooper the Dinosaur so we all agreed to head West. The township of Mitchell was a fantastic little town with all you need in it. We camped just out of town at Fisherman's Camp for two nights. In this episode you see what we get up to around camp and the boys have fun making a batch of Scones we cook in the camp oven. We visit Mitchell to do some washing and find a great shop with clothes for all and so much more. We all make some purchases before heading up the road to the Mitchell Artesian Baths. These Baths aren't free like a lot but this has been voted by us as the best one so far. The main bath is a perfect temperature to relax in and there is also a cool pool which Lucas absolutely loved and he mostly had to himself. There is a Cafe on site with fantastic coffee and light meals oh yes and you could have a roast too if you wanted a bigger meal. The whole facility was fanbloodytastic. We left Mitchell the next morning and our next stop was Charleville where we camped for another two nights at Rock Pool a free camp that turned out to be a great spot for the kids to have a great time swimming and trying to catch Yabbies. Charleville was a fantastic town and the locals were really friendly and saying g'day as you walked down the street. Benn, Dannielle and the kids visited the WW2 Secret Army Base and we checked the town out and called into the fish and tackle shop where we were instantly entertained by two ladies bantering over Jeff the Orange man who sold his property for $8 Million and that they aren't his bloody Oranges but then he looks after the neighbours garden so he can do what he wants with the Oranges and on it went. We were then told about the Min Min Lights which got us interested on these strange lights that follow you in the outback. One Lady said she had encountered them as a child and was terrified by them. You don't go looking for the Min Min Lights they go looking for you. You will hear more about these strange lights in another episode. After we left these very funny Ladies we headed to the Visitor Centre and I decided I wanted to see the Bilby's they have on site. I arranged a 3 pm session and they said they would call if they had enough people for a tour which they did by the time we got to camp. Dannielle and I took the kids for the Tour of the Bilby's and we all learnt heaps about their plight. Next morning we packed up camp and made our way to Quilpie but you will have to wait for next time to see what we get up to.
