Jacob Blake protests: Fires light up Kenosha streets as protesters defy emergency curfew

Protesters took to the streets of Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Tuesday in defiance of a state-wide emergency curfew in the second night of demonstrations calling for justice for Jacob Blake after he was shot multiple times in the back by police officers. Blake, a 29-year-old Black man, was shot in the back by officers as he tried to get into his SUV. Blake's father says his son is now paralyzed from the waist down as a result of the shooting. The Kenosha Police Department says officers were responding to a report of domestic violence but haven’t said how Blake was involved. Blake’s fiancée, Laquisha Booker, said their three children were in the back seat of the SUV when he was shot. Anger over the shooting spilled onto the streets for a second night Monday, with police firing tear gas at hundreds of protesters who defied the 8 p.m. curfew and who threw bottles and shot fireworks at law enforcement guarding the courthouse.
