Although we’ve visited Germany many times before, Düsseldorf was a totally new city for us, and what a surprise it turned out to be! 🥃 Local Drinks: Killepitsch Herbal Liquor After food, it was time for a local tipple: Killepitsch, a regional herbal liqueur. Visit the bar for a tasting and don’t miss the adjoining shop. This rich, aromatic spirit is a Düsseldorf tradition. 🌳 Königsallee: Düsseldorf’s Champs-Élysées After dinner, we wandered down Königsallee (“The King’s Alley”), the city’s elegant shopping boulevard. Even if you’re not into luxury brands, the canal, lush trees, ducks, and outdoor cafés make this area perfect for a scenic stroll. 🛍️ Funky Shopping at Vaseline on Wallstraße For something offbeat, we checked out Vaseline—a shop filled with wild, one-of-a-kind items like comic strip suits and psychedelic goggles. It’s a must for anyone who loves quirky treasures. 🍇 Carlsplatz Market: Foodie Heaven Carlsplatz is Düsseldorf’s ultimate food market, featuring gourmet stalls, food trucks, artisan cheeses, and local produce. Even if you’re not hungry, browsing here is a treat for all senses! 🍺 Zum Uerige Brewery & Soleier Lunch at Zum Uerige meant two things: freshly brewed Altbier and the city’s traditional snack, Soleier (pickled eggs). There’s an art to eating these eggs—sliced, filled with mustard, olive oil, and vinegar, then popped back together. Pair with Altbier for the full local experience! 🎨 K21 Museum: “In Orbit” Art Installation We took part in the “In Orbit” interactive art exhibition at K21, climbing a giant net suspended several stories high—a unique, if nerve-wracking, experience! Düsseldorf’s art scene really goes above and beyond. 🎷 Hofgarten & the Düsseldorf Jazz Festival For a change of pace, we relaxed in Hofgarten park and enjoyed a lively open-air jazz festival—proof that there’s always something happening in Düsseldorf’s public spaces. 🎨 Street Art Tour on Kiefernstrasse Next morning, we discovered Kiefernstrasse, a street covered in massive murals and a hub for alternative culture, squatting, and public art. There’s even a free public library right on the windowsills! ⛴️ Rhine River Cruise & Kassematten Promenade No visit to Düsseldorf is complete without a Rhine River cruise. We enjoyed scenic city views and later strolled the Kassematten promenade, perfect for drinks or a workout with beautiful riverside vistas. 🏙️ Altstadt & Rhine Tower Panoramas Düsseldorf’s Altstadt (Old Town) offers historic charm and lively squares. For the best city views, ascend the Rhine Tower—at 240.5 meters, as it provides 360-degree panoramas. 20 Things to do in Düsseldorf, Germany Travel Guide: BLOGS https://cheargentinatravel.com/ https://thatbackpacker.com/ https://nomadicsamuel.com/ https://acrossalberta.com/ Music by Ehrling: / ehrling
