#singhuborder #nihangsikhsarrested #haryanapolice The dead body of a 35-year-old man with one of his hands chopped off was found near the farmers' protest site at Kundli in Haryana's Sonipat district on Friday. The body was found tied to a metal barricade near the protest site, close to the Singhu border. The deceased was identified as Lakhbir Singh. ''The Kundli police station received information at 5 am that a body was found near the farmers' protest site,'' a Sonipat police official said. He said the deceased was found wearing only a pair of shorts. The police later arrested two Nihangs in connection with the incident. Nihang is an order of Sikh warriors, characterised by blue robes, antiquated arms such as swords and spears, and decorated turbans surmounted by steel quoits. Video footage that surfaced later showed the victim being brutally tortured with a sharp weapon. It shows a large group of men who seem to be dressed as Nihangs - a 'warrior' Sikh group - standing around Lakhbir and asking him questions that have been circulated in the media. The family of the deceased on Friday demanded justice and said that the guilty should be punished as soon as possible. Singh was a resident of village Cheema Khurd in Tarn Taran district of Punjab. He used to work as a labourer, has no criminal record or affiliation with any political party, informed the police. Residents of his village alleged that he was an addict and was lured into doing this. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday called a high-level meeting at his residence in Chandigarh over the incident at Singhu border. Inputs from agencies
