#ZionNationalPark #Backpacking #KolobArch #4k Join us for a multi-day backpacking trip on the La Verkin Creek Trail in Zion National Park’s Kolob Canyons, featuring stunning red rock cliffs, creek crossings, backcountry camping, and a side adventure to Kolob Arch — one of the largest freestanding arches in the world. Backpacking the La Verkin Creek Trail in Zion National Park was an unforgettable journey through the quieter, less-crowded Kolob Canyons district. Starting at the Lee Pass Trailhead, we hiked past dramatic red rock cliffs, crossed a small creek about 15 times, and camped along the serene La Verkin Creek under towering sandstone walls. One highlight was the Kolob Arch spur trail — a more technical route that required scrambling over and through boulders, using both hands for balance. In one section, carved handholds and footholds in the rock helped navigate a steep climb. Without a heavy pack, it was pure fun. The reward was Kolob Arch, one of the largest freestanding arches in the world, rising high above the canyon and framed by trees. This trip had everything I love about backcountry hiking: varied terrain, natural beauty, physical challenge, and the reward of reaching remote places. Whether you’re planning your first multi-day Zion hike or looking for a quieter alternative to the main canyon, the La Verkin Creek Trail delivers an incredible experience. 📍 Location: Zion National Park – Kolob Canyons, Utah 🥾 Trailhead: Lee Pass Trailhead 🌿 Distance: ~14 miles round trip to Kolob Arch (could be longer if exploring further) 🏕 Camping: Backcountry permit required 💧 Water: Available from La Verkin Creek (filter recommended) 👍 If you enjoyed this trip, please like, subscribe, and share — and let me know your favorite in the comments!
