"Ape Man" by The Marcus Hook Roll Band. AC/DC played their first gig at the end of 1973... that was a few months after this recording was made, in August 1973. THE MARCUS HOOK ROLL BAND was the last thing the Young Brothers did before they launched AC/DC. I produced a couple of singles of The MHRB at Abbey Road, when they were living in the UK, but then they went back to Australia. Meantime Capitol records, the American label had heard the singles that I'd made, and asked EMI for an album of The Band. So I was sent to Australia to record one. That was just about the same time that I was due to start work on another album of 'THE PRETTY THINGS with Philippe Debarge' - but that had to wait for another year. On this track - "Ape Man" (which has been specially tweaked for Facebook), I was singing the bass part - answering George Young's lead vocal. I mixed the album back at Abbey Road. Here is a link to the album which was called "TALES OF OLD GRAND-DADDY" :- https://www.amazon.com/Tales-Grand-Da... And here is a world-wide SmartLink to the first PRETTY THINGS album with Philippe Debarge, that we recorded in 1969, now called "ROCK ST. TROP", it has been completely restored, remastered and transformed with some incredible new photos (including a cover shot of Philippe Debarge with BRIGITTE BARDOT and JOHNNY HALLYDAY), new sleeve notes, and new bonus tracks to boot. It is being released on 1st September 2017 :- http://smarturl.it/Rock_St_Trop '73' was a busy year for me - amongst other things, I also produced some recordings with the amazing LYNDA CARTER... I suppose you could say, it was a case of: 'WONDER BAND', to 'WONDER WOMAN', in one fell swoop !! Produced by Wally Waller Full details on The Bexley Brothers Facebook Page / makemavit
