Arunachal Pradesh, the gateway to tranquility. This is our second trip to Arunachal Pradesh in Northeast India. It's a state still relatively undiscovered as a tourist destination. We love it for its breathtaking beauty, rich cultural diversity, and the incredible hospitality of its people. Located in the eastern Himalayas, Arunachal Pradesh is known for its majestic mountains, dense forests, and vibrant tribes. Bully is once again our guide (BAC Voyages/ https://iato.in/members/view/2496) on this trip, and Surez is our driver. In part 10 of our video report, we continue our journey exploring a lesser-known part of Arunachal Pradesh in Northeast India. We witness the preparations of a Nyeda ceremony. The Nyeda ceremony is a sacred, traditional marriage institution of the Nyishi and Tagin tribes in Arunachal Pradesh, marking the union of two souls and families with blessings from deities. It involves elaborate rituals, including shaman chanting, the exchange of mithun/pig horns and jaws, and community feasts to foster peace and prosperity. The film shows Along the way, we stumble upon a collection of cars in an open field with small groups of people. We get out and understand that it's the gathering place for family and friends of the man who will later that day be the center of attention with his bride at a groom's wedding ceremony in preparation for the Nyeda ceremony. Snacks are being distributed, and the dowries are being collected. The group will proceed in a long procession, carrying the dowry of mithuns, pigs, and bamboo sticks filled with millet wine, to the wedding venue a few hundred meters away. It's quite extraordinary, and what an abundance! It's no wonder that years of saving had gone into acquiring sufficient dowries. At the wedding venue, the group is enthusiastically welcomed by the bride's family and friends. The gifts are collected, and the celebrations can begin. We can't attend the celebration itself because we have to move on. But it was truly special to witness the spectacle. We drive past the Dud Dul Tharpaling Monastery (or Dhudul Tharpaling) in Jamiri, West Kameng, Arunachal Pradesh. The Monastery is highly praised as a serene, beautiful, and emerging destination. It is considered one of the captivating monasteries in the region. We end this film in the mountains near Tenzing Gang (or Tenzingaon) is a Tibetan refugee settlement in the West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh, India, established in 1972 on land gifted by the local Monpa community. Situated at 6,000–6,500 feet, it hosts a population of around 908, with an economy based on agriculture (apples, kiwi, vegetables) and a strong Buddhist culture. Many prayer flags flutter on suspension bridges wishing us happiness. Arunachal Pradesh is such a beautiful and varied region to travel.
