00:00 - I. Adagio 03:27 - II. Allegro 06:37 - III. Variations _____ Bassoon: Diego Chenna Harpsichord: Torsten Johann Theorbo: Thomas Boysen Year of Recording: 2024 _____ "Giuseppe Tartini: as he was Italy's most famous violinist in the mid-18th century one doesn't expect a sonata for bassoon from his pen. He almost exclusively composed for his own instrument, but also wrote some concertos for cello or viola da gamba. It is likely the Sonata per basso which was recently discovered in a private collection, was conceived as a work for cello and bc. The track-list says it is attributed to Tartini; the doubt about the authenticity isn't referred to in the liner-notes." (Johan van Veen) *The work is attributed to Tartini but this is under debate/not proven. _____ Note: Many thanks to Mr. Diego Chenna for allowing me to use his beautiful score and recording.
