While a number of countries like Taiwan and India have repealed laws criminalizing adultery and concubinage in recent years, the Philippines remains as one of the few countries in Asia that still treats marital infidelity as a crime. The country’s Supreme Court affirmed the 8-year sentence imposed on a man who caused his wife anguish by having an affair and fathering three children with his mistress.
