Saddleback & The Horn - Rangeley, Maine | Hiking the New England 67 4000 Footers | Maine AT

For Memorial Day Weekend 2024, my friends, family, and I headed up to Maine to continue our journey bagging all of the Four-Thousand Footers across New England! After some research 34 settled on Saddleback and The Horn of Saddleback AKA The Saddleback Horn! Located in the Rangeley Lakes Region of Maine, "The Hiking Peeps" and I started this hike ascending from the Saddleback Ski Area and followed (mostly) ski trails up to the junction of the Appalachian Trail near the summit of Saddleback. From there we took the AT across this beautiful, and mostly open, section of ridge line to The Horn, and made our way back out the same way. We all were generally blown away by how gorgeous this whole section of trail was, and while there were a few challenging sections overall it was a pretty mellow hike and we had stunning views of the region quite literally from the parking area at the ski lodge. A successful completion made for my #57 and #58 peaks of the ‪@AppalachianMountainClub‬ New England 67 Four-Thousand Footers with just 9 in Maine left to go, all outside Baxter State Park! Can't wait to get back up to Maine soon despite the 4+ hour ride, the views, tranquility, and wildness of this area made it well worth it!
