We started using a bokashi system several months ago. We really like how it allows us to compost things that normally wouldn't be, such as meat, fat or bone. Bokashi contains lactobacillus, a kind of bacteria. There are lots of benefits to incorporating bokashi into a compost system, and you don't need to spend lots of money to create something that works. The only thing we bought was a bag of bokashi and an easy-to-open lid. Here's the Amazon link to that: https://www.amazon.ca/Gamma-4123-Seal... No affiliation - just works well and it was cheap. You could just use the lids that come with the bucket, but Colleen does not like having to take them off. This is how we make and use bokashi with our kitchen scraps.
