Today we are talking about a man named Marquis Jacobs, a/k/a, Smurf, and what led up to him receiving a 30 year prison sentence. Initially, the case arose from an investigation of a robbery crew in Yonkers which Jacobs, was a part of. Starting in the fall of 2011, the group committed at least four robberies of Yonkers drug dealers. In one of the robberies, on November 28, 2011 where the robbery victim resisted, Jacobs shot the victim in the stomach. Jacobs was arrested soon after that first robbery. Thereafter, the Government’s investigation into Jacobs gained force, culminating in a superseding indictment, returned in May 2013, which included robbery, narcotics, and firearm charges. But it also included the most heinous, murder. In particular, the Government had established considerable evidence that Jacobs had killed Carlos Patricio, who he believed to be a rival gang member, in July 2011. Before we get into the details, we have to do a little background on Marquis Jacobs. This is a wild one.
