A beautiful rendition of Meerabai's bhajan by Kishori Amonkar. Born on April 10, 1931, she is a noted Indian classical vocalist, who sings khyal in the Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana style. According to Wikipedia, she has developed her own style which emphasizes the emotional content of musical notes while maintaining the rigor of the Jaipur "gaayaki" (singing style). Music critic Vamanrao Deshpande, who was also her guru-bandhu, had hailed her as one of the greatest artists of 20th century. She has dabbled more in lighter forms of music than the earlier generations of Jaipur Gharana musicians. Words and interpretation: Mharo pranaam Banke Bihari ji Mharo pranaam Mor mukut mathya tilak biraja Kundal alaka kari ji Mharo pranaam Banke Bihari ji Adhar madhur dhar bansi bajav Ri jhiri jhawa braj nari ji Mharo pranaam Banke Bihari ji Ya chhab dekhya mohya Meera Mohan giriwardhari ji Mharo pranaam Banke Bihari ji Interpretation: My respects to Banke Bihari, Who has a crown of peacock-feathers, a tilaka mark on the forehead and locks of hair hanging over his earring hoops. With His sweet lips He holds and plays the flute And playfully entices His dear Radha. This image captivates Meera—this image of Mohana, Who lifted Govardhana Mountain
