On May 8th 2025, the IBP Network, HRP, WHO and partners launched the WHO guideline on preventing early pregnancy and poor reproductive outcomes among adolescents in low- and middle-income countries. The session included opening remarks from Dr Pascale Allotey, Director of Sexual and Reproductive Health including the Special Programme HRP at WHO and Julia Bunting, Programme Director UNFPA. Remarks were followed by a background by Dr Venkatraman Chandra-Mouli and an overview of the Guideline by Dr Sheri Bastien, Scientist, WHO. Two panels followed featuring speakers: Sophie Hodder, Director, Girl Capital - Africa, Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, the Honorable Aboubekrine El Jera, Special Rapporteur Health of the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, Dr Ron Allan C. Quimado, MD, MPM-HSD, Medical Officer III, Adolescent Health and Development Programme Manager Child, Adolescent and Maternal Health Division Disease Prevention and Control Bureau Department of Health, Philippines, Stevie Reine Yameogo, President of the Organisation des Jeunes Engagés pour la Participation Citoyenne et le Développement Durable, youth representative member of the Guideline Development Group (GDG), Dr. Lauren Rumble, Associate Director for Gender Equality, UNICEF, Dr. Khalid Siddeeg, Regional Adviser, WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean, Dr. Faith Mwangi Powell, CEO, Girls Not Brides and Ivannia Artola – FP2030 Youth Focal Point, Honduras. Closing remarks were made by Anshu Mohan, Senior Strategic Advisor, SRHR and Adolescent Well-being, PMNCH.
