The Phantom of the Opera from 1925 is a classical horror based on a novel of the same name, published in 1911 and written by Gaston Leroux. The film is centered around Eric, a masked phantom, who falls in love with an opera singer Christine Daaé during her performance. The same performance is attending Viscount Raoul de Chagny, who as well falls in love with his childhood friend Christine. Eric takes Christine to his hidden dwelling, hoping she will fall in love with him as well, while Raoul is attempting to save his kidnapped beloved.
