Vignette: Denise and Elizabeth chose to come to therapy to help "fix" their teenage daughter, Anni. They feel as if her attitude and actions are no longer like the daughter they raised. Since she's hit her teen years, Anni has been talking back more often, not completing chores, and lying. they see her as a rebellious teenager. However, Anni sees herself as coming of age to make her own decisions. She is not trying to rebel, but become more of her own person. She believes that Denise and Elizabeth are not ever happy with anything she does. They do not even notice when she cleaned the kitchen for them before they got home because the first thing they saw is her shoes in the hallway. Denise and Elizabeth have noticed that they are very negative, and much of it is due to their long hours at work. Without being able to cut back at work, the stress gets the better of them.
