From the Hochweißsteinhaus lodge, Via Alpina takes you mostly over Italian territory to the Porze hut. Old war shelters are dotted all along the Höhenweg (high-altitude trail). This is a high-alpine stage which, as of the Luggauer Törl, already runs without exception at an altitude of over 2,200m. It is imperative to check that the trail and weather conditions are good. Campobon - Tilliacher Joch alpine road - Porze Hut (25km, 8h30min). From the Porze hut, walk across entirely high alpine terrain past the Fillmoor-Standschützen hut, where a short rest can be fitted in, to the Obstansersee Hut. The trail starts off below the steeply towering walls of the Porze up to the Heretriegel and through the marshy terrain of the Obere Stuckensee lake, which can heat up to 19 degrees in the summer. The trail leads you from the Obstansersee Hut initially over rocky, pine-strewn terrain. There are several peaks to climb before reaching the Sillianer Hut, such as the Eisenreich, which, standing at an altitude of 2,665m, is the highest point of the Karnischer Höhenweg (Carnic alpine trail). Continue over the Schöntalhöhe and the Demut before arriving in the Hochgränten Joch pass, where a military cemetery is situated.
