The Botafumeiro in Santiago de Compostela is said to be the largest in the world. This event takes place at the pilgrims mass every sunday at 12. From former times it was done to cover the odour of the pilgrims who had travelled far and for many days in order to reach the cathedral. Santiago de Compostela is still the places where many pilgrims end their journey, walking the St. James way.
