(What Do We Do On A) Dew-Dew-Dewey Day (Johnson /Tobias, Sherman) - Charles Kaley & His Orchestra, Vocal chorus by Charles Kaley, Columbia 1927 NOTE: Charles KALEY American actor, singer, bandleader b. 1902, Iowa d. 1965, Santa Clara County, California, USA. Before signing with Abe Lyman's California Ambassador Hotel Orchestra in 1923, Kaley was vocalist for Joe Kaysor's Orchestra -- house band at the Crystal Palace Ballroom in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Charles Kaley emerges on phonograph records in 1923 with Lyman's, Ben Selvin's and other dance bands -- as well as being a featured solo vocalist, between that year and 1928. In the end of 1920s Kaley appears as bandleader of his own orchestra. In 1930 he also begins his film career from which the most notorious success was his role in MGM hit movie „Lord Byron of Broadway" with the evergreen song „Should I?". Besides this, Kaleys filmography contains: „Red Heads" 1930, „The Beauties" 1930, „The Singing Buckaroo" 1937. He fades from view in 1930/40s to emerge later selling life insurances and entertaining himself with gallons of whiskey at Reno's „Villa Sierra" club.
