With this new method, the liquid UV-curing excimer coating "Innolux Topcoat EXC" applied in a roller process is irradiated with short-wave UV light (172 nm) under exclusion of oxygen. This leads to a superficial polymerisation, which causes a volume shrinkage, which in turn manifests itself in surface folds of varying degrees. This deformed "skin" leads to a diffuse reflection of the light, which we perceive as a matt effect. To completely cure the coating layer, it is immediately followed by irradiation with a UV dryer.
