Driving the deadliest road in Georgia! Abano Pass

Something which couldn't be done! Not possible! Only by 4x4. But we did it! We got on top of the mountain and are at the Abano Pass with a 2 wheel drive 45 year old classic van! Who would have thought it! Yes, we did, ofcourse, but people looked at us in amazement and disbelieve, I can ensure you. With sweaty hands and feet, yes we must be frank, we made it along the sharp hairpin corners and steep mountain ridges. We didn't plan to take the pass to Tusheti that day, but couldn't find a good spot earlier on to camp for the night. So we kept on going. On and on. Until we reached te top at dawn. During the trip numerous signs and memorials reminded us this wasn't just an ordinary road. No this road is marked as one of Georgia's (if not the most) deadliest. Europes even! And we agree, it isn't a road for the faint hearted, but when driving and concentrating it shouldn't be that hard to do. Be sure to check the weather forecast, bring enough fuel and don't drink and drive! :P Why would we make this last comment you might think? It is said the locals often need a drink for courage (AKA Dutch courage). If it is true we honestly (and luckily) couldn't tell.
