review of cheap solar mppt charger. on going tests adding batteries to grid tied inverter. along with solar panels. For any information regarding the solar setup and battery it is still in transition I am purely testing at this stage. The batteries are marked up incorrectly by the supplier. The solar MMPT is lacking in the cooling department, also the screw terminals are of poor quality. and they are no where near big enough to accept a 60 amp wire. The postitive rail is straight through the negative rail is switched. So you can run a small positive feed to the mppt and run the main feed to the battery bank. Then just connect the solar negative to the input and the battery to the negative. 30 amp wire is all that the unit will take so you have to split it as soon as it leaves the mppt into 2 30 amp wires. My idea to increase it to 48 volts is that the current halves at 48 volts. I would have 48 volts at 75 ah = 3.6 kwh. the 48 volt 2kw gti should handle that nicely. The wind is good at present the turbine has hardly stopped generating since end of december.
