Keisei High School Band - 365 Steps March

In May of 2024, the Grants Pass High School Jazz Band One went to visit Keisei High School in Kumamoto, Japan to ride the bullet train, tour the countryside and give several performances. The band was treated with love and open arms as various Keisei band families hosted our cultural exchange students in their homes. Well… now it was our turn. The Keisei High School Band performed at 3 events here in Grants Pass, Oregon. First was the Boatnik Parade Preview on the Grants Pass football field. The following night, after 3 GP bands performed, Keisei performed several amazing numbers, culminating in a finale where they were joined on stage by the Grants Pass Marching Band. This was an incredible evening. 2 days later, the Keisei Band marched in the annual Memorial Day Weekend, Grants Pass Boatnik Parade. Now when was the last time you saw a band of Japanese musicians march down 6th Street in Grants Pass? It was an amazing 10 days. Sadly, Keisei departed for San Francisco International Airport at 8 p.m. on Thursday, 5/29/25. There was nary a dry eye among the host families and Keisei band kids alike. We miss them dearly.
